Several hostess bars operate in the streets around Hanamikoji in Gion — distinct from the traditional ochaya system, these are conventional hostess clubs where female companions sit and drink with customers. More accessible than the introduction-only teahouses. Expect 8,000–15,000 JPY for a session. Look for English signage or touts who approach in English near the Shijo-Hanamikoji intersection.
