Lamai Beach

Lamai is Samui's second beach town, about 15 minutes south of Chaweng. It has its own bar strip — smaller, cheaper, and more local in feel. The infamous Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks are here (naturally shaped rock formations that have become a quirky tourist landmark), and the nightlife strip nearby caters to a mix of budget travelers and regulars who prefer a less chaotic scene than Chaweng.

Prices are lower across the board — beer bars, food, and accommodation all come in cheaper. The girls are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. A good option if Chaweng feels overwhelming, or if you want to base yourself somewhere quieter while still being within reach of the action.
